Happy 6th Birthday Gorden!!!

Our little boy is not so little anymore! Gorden turned six on October 12th. He wanted to open his presents as soon as he woke up! He got dressed fast and then woke up Adelaide. He was so thrilled with what he got and we sure enjoyed watching his face light up with excitement as he ripped open enough wrapping paper to begin to see what was inside. It was so fun for all of us!

When I picked him up from Kindergarten he was still all smiles and was wearing a big birthday crown on his head. He said that he wore it the whole day! We had a party at the park after school that day with a bunch of his friends from both school and church. The ones that were able to come were Sean, Matthew, Logan, Caitlyn, James, Remington, Hailey, William, Hannah, Elisa, Braxton, and Brooks. Gorden loved it so much and it was so cute to see him with his school friends. None of them had seen each other outside of school before and they were all so giddy! You could tell these kids love each other!

What he wanted to do for his birthday party was play soccer, freeze tag, and BINGO. Easy enough! That's why we decided to have his party at the park, well that plus his long guest list. We actually didn't get to BINGO because they were all having such fun with the other things.

We had pizza, capri sun, and birthday cake (which turned out kind of gross for some reason. Really dry. We tasted the batter before we put it in the oven and it wasn't even good then. That should've been a bigger clue... Oh well!) The weather was absolutely amazing for a fall day but it was so incredibly windy that lighting the candles was a big challenge. Spencer made a fort around the cake with pizza boxes and managed to get three candles to stay lit. Gorden was super happy all day!

That night he got to bed late and I couldn't get him to wake up for school. He was soo tired I just let him sleep. Then when he did wake up he didn't want to go so I just let him stay home and play with his new toys. He got some really fun stuff from his friends and hadn't had a chance to see everything yet. He was pretty worn out from playing so hard the day before so we just hung out at home. My friend called in the morning and needed me to watch her boys for a few hours that day so Gorden actually had one of his buddies over for a while and he loved that! Then shortly after the boys went home, it was time for me to teach piano lessons, and the little girl that I teach has a brother who comes too to play with Gorden during her lesson and he is Gorden's best friend, so he totally loved that!

Sunday we went to my parents' house to celebrate all of the October birthdays in the family (there are 5) so we just kept on extending the party! Before Gorden's birthday I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner and he said Tacos. Exactly what I thought he would say. =) Since we had his party shortly after school on his birthday, we felt like we needed to feed the kids dinner so I didn't cook anything special at home that night. So we had his birthday dinner the following Monday. We had a couple of family friends over and had tons of homemade tacos and brownie fudge sundaes and a really good time!

Gorden has been excited about getting baptized when he turns eight years old, so the other day someone asked him, "Do you know what happens in two more years?" He excitedly said, "I get to go to Scouts!" We all laughed and then he thought for a minute and added, "and get baptized!" He actually is very excited about scouts. Last year Spencer taught the eight year old Cub Scouts and this year he is the eleven year old Boy Scout leader and every single Wednesday night Gorden BEGS to go with him. Usually he gets to but if for some reason he doesn't, he just cries and cries. Its so sad!

Gorden is such a good boy. He tries hard to do what is right and wants to please everyone. He is such a fun person to be around and still so hilarious. He makes us laugh out loud all day long! He loves playing different characters and really has a big imagination. He is good to include his sister in his adventures. He enjoys playing the Wii and is pretty good at it. Since school started he says he wants to be a Librarian when he grows up. We have never heard him say anything like that before, as far as a future profession goes. He has always enjoyed reading and looking at books and the library really excites him. He does, however, LOVE to be outside and he is very active and still likes to RUN all the time. He regularly plays soccer and basketball and just keeps getting better at them. He tries hard at whatever it is he is doing. Gorden can think for himself and make mature decisions without much influence from us. He likes learning and wants to be good at what he does. He is persistent, I think, because of that. He absolutely LOVES to be with his dad, as long as mom is not too far. =) I can't say he is a Mama's Boy or a Daddy's boy because he really is both. He is still pretty tenderhearted and when one of us has to be gone for a while he kind of gets his feelings hurt! He just likes us all to be together! We love Gorden so much and he is such a wonderful boy! We are so so glad he is in our family!! Happy Birthday Gorden!!!
