Time-Out

Gorden got sent to time-out and was ticked about it. He knows the rules though, and he broke one, so that's the consequence. After he's done screaming and crying, I set the timer for 3 minutes, and when the time is up he can join us again. So when the time was up, I went into his room and this is what he said:

G: "Mom I don't want to break the rules."

M: "I don't want you to break the rules either. Do you know what rule you broke?"

G: "Um, screaming and yelling and yelling and yelling....and yelling and yelling and yelling and yelling. And... also some yelling. That's about it."

He nailed it. That's exactly why.

Adelaide's First Day

Today after Sacrament meeting I am holding Adelaide's hand and we walk down the hall and round the corner and go into the room where Sunday School is. She realizes where we are and holds my hand a little tighter and just turns us around and back out the door. So I follow thinking she just wants to walk a minute knowing that we are about to sit down again. Well she takes me down the hall where Gorden and Spencer were, on the way to Primary. Except we pass the Primary room door and she heads to the Nursery room door. She only knows where this room is because she sometimes follows other kids in there to put toys away whenever we go to the church MWF for the morning workout group. So we get to the doorway and she just looks in and the nursery leaders notice us and say Hi excitedly like they've got a new one coming. I tell them she still has another month before she is old enough for nursery and that she was just walking around and saw other kids going this way. Well, the leaders all said that if she wanted to stay they didn't mind. We could just try it out. So I left her and she didn't look back!!!

It was really fun to get to sit and hold Spencer's hand during Sunday school and actually feel like I was able to pay attention. It's been a while since I haven't had a baby on my lap and lately Adelaide really hates Sunday School. She totally does NOT want to sit any longer, especially now that she is able to walk. So a little while goes by and then we hear something. Spencer said he thought it was Adelaide. Then you could hear the door opening and we looked across the room and it was her (BAWLING!) and a nursery leader (and another little girl who just felt like walking along for moral support or something). Apparently, Adelaide was playing great, but then she pooped her pants and when the nursery leader picked her up to bring her to me to change her, she FREAKED OUT because she didn't want to leave. So she calms down and I change her diaper, but then we get back to the Nursery door she doesn't want to go in! She cried and fought it so I took her back with me to Sunday School. They said that I could stay with her as long as I wanted, but I had to teach Relief Society today so I didn't want to cut it close and knew SS was almost over.

Spencer gets to entertain and bond with Adelaide during the 3rd hour on the weeks that I teach so she was with him today. I told him Nursery was about to have Singing Time and then snacks, so if he wanted to try again with her it would be a good time. (If singing time didn't convince her to stay, I knew snack time would!! I mean this is Adelaide we're talking about!) Well she stayed and did good and had a great time. I AM SO GLAD! I have been counting down until she turns 18 months old and can go to nursery. (One more month) She is so ready. It will be great for her.

Adelaide Quirks

Recently we bought some new toothpaste and it happens to be a flip cap instead of a screw on cap. Today Adelaide came to me holding the new tube with the cap flipped open with toothpaste all over her hands. You're thinking its my fault, I know, for leaving it where she could get it. Really though, she has the longest arm span of any kid ever. I can not believe how far she can reach. (And yes I've learned my lesson about the flip cap kind. I didn't even think about that before.)

We had corn on the cob last night and Adelaide thought it was amazing. She absolutely loved holding her own and just went to town on it! She ate 3 halves and cried for more.

This afternoon we were on the playground out back and I looked over to see Adelaide sitting in the dirt by a tree, digging. Normal. She loves dirt. Two seconds later I look again and she is EATING MUD. She actually swallowed it. She saw me coming and it was like she had to hurry (and cringe) to get it down, but she did. I did wipe her tongue with the bottom of her shirt and she seemed to appreciate that.

Yesterday Adelaide said "Love you" to me in her unarticulate language. It was precious. She is saying at least one new word a day with a lot of clarity. Most of them have the S or Sh sound, so I was pretty surprised when she said I love you back to me after I told her. We went back and forth three times so I'm positive that's what it was. Its fun that she's starting to echo us. She's such a doll.

I've recently been tagged by several people to talk about myself.....

1. Link the person who tagged you.
2.Post these rules
3.Tell about six unspectacular quirks about yourself
4.Tag six fellow bloggers by link

1. I used to be able to fly. At least I really really believed that I could fly. I would just push the air down with my arms and my body would raise up. It was like swimming except with air instead of water. This must’ve happened in my dreams constantly or something because I really did believe for a long time that I could do this.

2. I have to have the sun visor always down when I'm in the car. I feel like it really makes it less bright for my eyes and I really don't like driving or riding without it down.

3. I can sing the Thomas the Train theme song with an English accent. This is the only time I can correctly do an accent though. I’m working on reading the Thomas books with the accent. Its pretty fun.

4. I like to be organized but I am not good at it.

5. I really like the toothbrushes that have that thick rubber strip in the middle of the bristles. I think it gets my teeth cleaner and it feels so good. Its kind of like a massage in my mouth.

6. I CAN NOT HANDLE when people smack their lips while eating. Adelaide smacks. Gorden never ever did until Adelaide started eating table food. Now I offer Gorden money as incentive to keep his lips shut because I KNOW he can do it. He just thinks its so fun not too because it literally makes me cringe. God Bless Spencer and his good manners.

Sleepover

Well Gorden LOVED his first sleepover! He did great the entire time. Megan said they were so tired that Gorden and Greg both fell asleep about 30 seconds after they layed down and slept all night long. The boys thought it was really fun. They're excited to do it again! Here at home, Adelaide totally didn't care that Gorden wasn't here. I was actually really surprised. I told her again when she woke up that Gorden was at Greg's house. Then she ran out to the living room like usual and wanted up in the rocking chair. So I turned on cartoons for her and she was so giddy about it! That is Gorden's routine when he first wakes up. Straight to the rocking chair to watch something while holding a small bowl of Gold Fish crackers and a cup of cold water. Then she would just follow me around while I cleaned the house some or she'd just play fine alone in her room. She probably LOVED not being attacked or pushed over or sat on or anything else that regularly happens to her when he goes into his (frequent) bully mode lately. She didn't cry all morning! and since I never pushed her down or into something, she never even got hurt. Pretty nice! It was wierd though that he wasn't here for most of the day. I got a lot done, however! That was nice. OH! And the best part was that since we were up so late the night before and Adelaide got to bed late, she slept until 10:30. That means I SLEPT UNTIL 10:30am!!! It was WONDERFUL!

Gorden's First Sleepover!!

So tonight is Gorden's first sleepover! He's at his cousin Greg's house. I actually think he'll do just fine. Hopefully anyway! I told Megan I'd drive out there in the middle of the night if I needed to but I bet I won't have to. Its really wierd not having him here though and I'm sure Adelaide won't like it when she wakes up tomorrow. If ever she wakes up in the night and he's not in his bed, she thinks its time to get up. Then she runs out here to the living room to find him. She's probably going to be confused. Gorden was having a blast with Greg & Scott when we left him there tonight though. He's been telling us for a while that he wants to sleepover with them so tonight was the big night. He's growing up!!

He got this nice goose egg on his head somehow while the boys were all playing in the basement. He acted like it wasn't even there so we didn't even notice until it swelled up and we were all out back playing.

This is their set up for the night. Gorden's on the floor on some blankets next to Greg's bed in his room. He seemed to think everything was great! He was so happy!
